I am a Nationally and Iowa Certified EMT as well as a Certified Professional Midwife.One of my passions is helping build bridges between first responders and midwives. I am happy to come to your local ambulance service or fire department and teach this 90 minute course. It is free of charge except travel expenses when applicable. Most stations receive CEUs.

Special Delivery: Childbirth and EMS

Description:
 Attending the birth of a baby is a once or twice in a lifetime experience for most people! Homebirths happen throughout Iowa. Some are very fast surprise labor and deliveries. Some are planned with a midwife in attendance. This workshop will refresh your knowledge of childbirth, familiarize you with what you may be seeing, and help you recognize and react to rare but life-threatening complications. We will also discuss special transport needs for birthing women and newborns.
